  • Chairman

    Dr. Bill Sears is one of Australia’s leading spinal surgeons. Dr Sears is the immediate past-President of the Spine Society of Australia and has also served as President of the NSW Neurosurgical Association and the Asia-Pacific Cervical Spine Society.

    Dr. Sears has held key roles in the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS), including as a Research Committee member and IT Committee Chair. He is actively involved in spinal biomechanics research and has authored 29 peer-reviewed publications. He has presented over 150 lectures at scientific congresses worldwide, earning national and international awards.

    A consultant to several international medical device companies, Dr. Sears is a named inventor on 12 issued US patents. He has also served on the Board of Dalcross Private Hospital, where he chaired the Medical Staff Council and the Clinical Review Committee.

    As Chairman of Wyvern Private Hospital, Dr. Sears brings extensive experience and leadership, dedicated to advancing patient care and medical innovation.

    With 25 years of executive experience in the private hospital sector, Carol Bryant has made a significant impact as a CEO, leading institutions such as Macquarie University Hospital and Westmead Private Hospital.

    Under Carol's leadership, both hospitals witnessed remarkable business growth and benefited from the introduction of innovative services and programs.

    Beginning her career as a Registered Nurse in 1975, Carol spent over a decade at North Gosford Private, holding key positions including Acting Director of Clinical Services and Deputy Director of Nursing. In 2000, she joined Ramsay Health Care, further enhancing her expertise.

    Carol's educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science from UNSW, a Graduate Diploma of Education from Armidale, and management training from Macquarie Graduate School of Management and Singapore Management University. Her visionary approach and dedication to excellence have earned her respect in the private hospital sector.

    Grant Hummel is a Partner at HWL Ebsworth with extensive corporate and commercial expertise, specialising in capital raisings, securities law, mergers and acquisitions, and advisory services related to the Corporations Act and ASX Listing Rules. He co-leads HWL Ebsworth’s Health Industry Group and holds an honors degree in life sciences. Grant’s experience includes advising numerous health, pharmaceutical, and aged care clients on their corporate and commercial legal needs. This includes capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, commercial agreements, and structuring requirements.

    With over 30 years in the private health industry, Anne’s experience is impressively deep and varied. From her first clinical expertise as a Nurse to more wide-ranging senior management roles, she has gained a unique understanding of what makes a well-run hospital work – and we now welcome her as our Director of Clinical Services.

    Anne believes that a good culture is crucial. She is passionate about creating an environment where people love to come to work, and where the work/life balance is protected. She is excited to be part of the Wyvern Private Hospital Team and looks forward to developing a culture of ‘care without compromise’.

    John oversees the hospital’s financial strategy and operations. With over 20 years of experience in financial management and healthcare administration, John brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his role.

    John's career is marked by his commitment to financial excellence and operational efficiency. He has a proven track record of developing and implementing robust financial strategies that support sustainable growth and enhance the hospital's financial health. 

    John holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in accounting. After completing his tertiary education John worked as an auditor with Ernst and Young chartered accountants for 10 years before leaving to work in the private hospital sector. His dedication to continuous professional development keeps him at the forefront of financial innovation in the healthcare sector.
