MARCH 2025 newsletter
20 March, 2025
The three months since Wyvern’s official opening has been an exciting period for Wyvern. Just as the gallery in our main walkway showcases the growth of the hospital from a bare site to our fabulous modern structure today, we are now watching history in the making with wards opening, the range of services increasing daily and admission numbers steadily growing.
100 Admissions Milestone
We were excited to admit our 100th patient at the beginning of March. Walking through Edwards ward, visitors get a real sense of what Wyvern will feel like when full of patients. And we’re confident this will be in the not-too-distant future! Patient feedback has been fabulous and staff receive lovely tokens of appreciation regularly. We are so proud of our team whose dedication and friendly ‘care without compromise’ has underpinned the exemplary services on offer at Wyvern.
Outpatient Physiotherapy Services at Wyvern Private Hospital
Another exciting announcement is the opening of our Outpatient Physiotherapy Services at Wyvern Private Hospital. Our services are designed to support patients at every stage of their journey, whether working towards specific health and fitness goals, managing an injury, preparing for surgery or recovering from it. Our experienced team offer personalised care and tailored treatments to meet specific patient needs.

Wyvern Wants You- Recruiting Drive
Wyvern Private Hospital is continuing to grow its nursing team. We are currently recruiting for a range of nursing roles, including Theatre, Anaesthetics, Scrub/Scout, Recovery, Vascular and Cath Lab, PACU, and Ward Nurses. These positions offer the chance to join a hospital that is set to transform healthcare delivery on the Northern Beaches. If you have excellent clinical and communication skills, and a commitment to providing ‘care without compromise’, we encourage you to apply and be part of something truly special. Jobs are available on Seek and on our website. Help us spread the word.
Surgeons on Board
It’s very exciting, watching the list of applicant surgeons grow as word-of-mouth spreads about the high standards of care and the stunning working environment at Wyvern. Our theatres are something to behold, with natural light streaming through vast windows and the latest technology at hand. See our website for some of the names of our Visiting Medical Officers and ask for them by name if and when you need surgery.
Consulting Suites
We are also about to unveil our stunning consulting suites. Offering a wealth of support services and beautiful bush views, we think they’re the best option available for specialists to consult with patients. Gemma Gordon, our Doctor Liaison Officer, can help with Surgeons looking to join us from the last week in March (gemma.gordon@wyvernhealth.com.au).
Nutritious and Delicious
We are so proud of the quality of food on offer at Wyvern. Whether you are in for a stay after surgery or visiting Charlie’s, our on-site café, the food is bound to impress. Patients have given it a big thumbs up! On-demand dining available via our app, QR code or a phone call, makes ordering easy and delivery is always with a smile. A big shout out to our Food Services Manager, Puti Firmansyah who does such a fabulous job with her delightful team.
Wendy, our Head Chef, preparing for the day ahead.
Nature All Around
We delight in the flora and fauna around us at Wyvern. From wallabies beside the driveway to our shy vulnerable Eastern Pygmy Possums, there are plenty of nature’s wonders to try and catch a glimpse of. Little finches trusted our eaves with their babies and Larry the Lizard suns himself on our decks. We love it!
Harmony Week at Wyvern
We are absolutely about diversity and belonging. We take enormous pride in the wonderful diversity of our staff and our ‘care without compromise’ philosophy extends equally to staff as it does to patients.
Our team are enjoying a variety of events, from Stories from our Staff to Global Games, throughout the week beginning 17th March as we join the nation in celebrating the diversity of backgrounds that make up Australia. The week culminates in a foodie day on the Friday 23rd that coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
It’s a Wrap
With Autumn here and Winter fast approaching, we are joining the Wrap With Love project in providing blankets and wraps for those in need. If you have knitting or crocheting skills and would like to join us, we’d love to hear from you. All it takes is knitting a square or two and we’ll turn it into blankets. Alternatively, you may like to donate balls of wool or knitting needles which you can drop into Reception here at Wyvern. Have a coffee at Charlie’s while you’re here!
The Wyvern Philosophy
We have a vision that Wyvern will become the hospital of choice for this area of Sydney, not simply because it's new and beautifully built, or because it offers a range of services in high demand, or that we have an impressive list of surgeons. Yes, we do. But it's because our reputation will precede us, of having a culture that isn't just a tagline, of employing a philosophy that is embedded into everything we do. Our staff are all aligned to our philosophy of giving 'care without compromise'. This is of utmost importance to us. We deliver it from when we greet you at reception, throughout your journey in theatre, to your stay in the wards and your visits to rehabilitation. We go above and beyond to make your experience at Wyvern one full of warmth and care.
