WYVERN PRIVATE HOSPITAL IN TERREY HILLS ENTERS FINAL STAGE OF CONSTRUCTION AHEAD OF OPENING IN 2024

Australian Unity’s $98 million Wyvern Private Hospital in Sydney’s North has entered the final stage of development just one year after construction commenced, with the hospital’s structure and outer cladding now completed.

The world-class 84-bed facility in Terrey Hills is now undergoing interior fit-out and installation of world-class medical equipment, and is on track to open its doors on schedule in 2024.

Wyvern Private Hospital is owned by Australian Unity’s $3.9 billion Healthcare Property Trust (AUHPT) and will be leased for a 30-year period to operator Wyvern Health.

Once opened, Wyvern Private Hospital will deliver urgently needed medical and surgical services to Sydney’s northern suburbs, including seven operating theatres, a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, 56 surgical inpatient beds, 20 rehabilitation beds, eight ICU beds and associated clinical support units including radiology, pathology, hydrotherapy and pharmacy, a 148-space car park and consulting suites.

Chris Smith, General Manager Healthcare Property at Australian Unity said the hospital will meet the community’s current and future health needs while delivering solid income returns to AUHPT investors.

“After a year of very strong construction progress, it’s pleasing to see Wyvern Private Hospital enter the final phase of construction on schedule and on budget, placing us well on track to opening next year.

“Australian Unity is delighted to deliver this world-class facility in northern Sydney that will meet the community’s changing health needs for decades to come. The hospital will augment our NSW portfolio and deliver value to AUHPT investors, who will benefit from the 30-year lease signed with Wyvern Health,” said Mr Smith.

Dr William Sears, Chair of Wyvern Health, said Wyvern Private Hospital will deliver care without compromise to patients, staff, the local community and the environment.

“It’s critical that the people in northern Sydney, many of whom are ageing, have access to world-class private medical and surgical facilities and healthcare services. Wyvern Private Hospital will provide this care in a pristine bushland setting.

“Our mission at Wyvern is to provide care without compromise. This care extends well beyond hospital patients to our staff, our local community, and the surrounding environment. We’re committed to enriching life in Terrey Hills.

“We’re excited to be just one year away from opening our doors, joining Sydney’s healthcare ecosystem and delivering excellent healthcare to residents of the Northern Beaches and its surrounds,” said Dr Sears.
